1888 Essential Reading | "An Irretrievable Fall"
"These men cannot be renewed again to repentance, not because they have crucified the Lord, but because they persist in doing it." --E. J. Waggoner
"An Irretrievable Fall - Hebrews 6:4-8"
"These men cannot be renewed again to repentance, not because they have crucified the Lord, but because they persist in doing it." --E. J. Waggoner
“You shall not commit adultery” (Ex. 20:14).
"The light of the glory of God shone upon our Representative, and this fact says to us that the glory of God may shine upon us. With his human arm, Jesus encircled the race, and with his divine arm he grasped the throne of the Infinite, connecting man with God, and earth with heaven." --Ellen G. White 1888 Materials
"The danger has been presented to me again and again of entertaining, as a people, false ideas of justification by faith. I have been shown for years that Satan would work in a special manner to confuse the mind on this point. The law of God has been largely dwelt upon, and has been presented to congregations, almost as destitute of the knowledge of Jesus Christ and His relation to the law as was the offering of Cain." --Ellen G. White
“You shall not murder” (Ex. 20:13).
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you” (Ex. 20:12).
A very important lesson is conveyed by our Lord’s illustration in Luke 17:5-10.
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor and do all your work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God. In it you shall do no work: you, nor your son, nor your daughter, nor your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your cattle, nor your stranger who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it” (Ex. 20:8–11 ).
“You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain” (Ex. 20:7).
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image—any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments” (Ex. 20:4–6).
