"Seventh-day Adventists, standing before the world as the exponents of the greatest truth that was ever committed to the hands of any people, and boasting, as we have done, that we are a people who stand upon the Bible, a people who are Bible students,—I say we all have a right to be ashamed of ourselves, that we have neglected that very thing which has been committed to us, and so much of the Word of God has been left to lie idle.
The New Year
The “New Year” is at hand; and the time by common consent sacred to the formation of new resolutions. In most cases, however, the resolutions of the previous year have the dust brushed off from them, and are made to serve again, being just as good as new on account of never having been used.
Alonzo T. Jones writes a comprehensive and practical study on the Holy Spirit that is a refreshing blessing to all who read it. It gives insights far beyond the quarterly, thus giving a depth and breadth to class discussions that otherwise wouldn't happen.
For convenience, below are links to the Jones material and also the Quarterly. Download both and print, share, or just keep them handy on your device.

The 1888 message truths for this presentation are: 1) The humanity of Christ and its resulting meaning to us; 2) He is our Substitute in that He substitutes Himself for us, and we appear no more; and 3) Creation and redemption are the same thing.
The Real Presence
BEFORE the Lord Jesus Christ went away from the world, he said to his disciples, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you.” John 14:18.
As he was about to ascend to heaven from the Mount of Olives, he said again to his disciples, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the Gospel to every creature; . . . and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world.” Matt. 28:20.
"The Glad Tidings is a commentary on the Book of Galatians in the New Testament. From beginning to end, the reader will experience the everlasting Gospel; the cross of Christ; righteousness by faith; the New Covenant; and the ever present and personal Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. The Glad Tidings is full of practical good news and answers the most basic spiritual longings of the heart and soul. Ellet J. Waggoner’s depth of insight and simple style will leave the reader with the impression that he wrote with authority and credentials from above."
The question for everyone is, “Do you know that Christ lives in you? Are you joined to Him?” There are many who are workers for Him professedly, who dare not say that Christ lives in them; they do not know that Christ is one with them. When we were bearing crosses after the manner we have described, we could not say, “Christ lives in me.” So we were separated from Him, and thus separated from His cross.
Many speak, teach and firmly believe in the idea of the theme: “in Christ.” This is well and good, but it represents only part of the truth - one facet of the gospel. The complete gospel is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.”
We understand that the main theme of the 1888 General Conference, what was presented by the Lords messengers - Elder Waggoner and Jones - was righteousness by faith. However, what is not pointed out is that it is righteousness by faith because of Christ being in the believer - He is our righteousness.
