AS God inhabits eternity, so that all time is present with Him, so all His promises and blessings for men are in the present tense. There can be no future or past time to Him. This makes Him “a very present help in trouble,” for we can live only in the present.
Ever since the fall, men could enter the gates of righteousness at any time they chose. Thus it will be until probation ends.
"The law came from the Son as well as from the Father, for they are one. But grace, as well as truth, came by Jesus Christ. (John 1:17). By His divine, creative power all things are given to us that pertain to life and godliness." Ellet J. Waggoner
"‘This message, understood in its true character, and proclaimed in the Spirit, will lighten the earth with its glory’" —MS 15,1888. (Olson, p. 296).

Instead of attacking their error and combating it with hard argument, the apostle begins with an experience, which illustrates the case in hand. In this narrative he shows that salvation is wholly by faith for all men alike, and not in any degree by works. Galatians 2:21; Romans 8:3,4
