Do we really believe the truth?

If you had the choice to learn about justification and sanctification, would you dart off to the popular churches of today to study under them or would you inquire of the Lord and His word and search the writings of the prophets - both old and recent?

And what would you do when you found to your horror that what you had been taught as "the truth" wasn't the truth at all? Now to add injury to insult, you discover that in 1888 the Lord, in His great mercy, sent a most precious message through His messengers Elder Waggoner and Elder Jones, whom Ellen White endorsed saying that they had credentials from heaven. With credentials from heaven, surely we would be all ears to hear the message from our God.

But alas, this message was rejected by our leaders as surely as Christ was rejected by former leaders when He came. A conspiracy was made then to kill the Messiah as surely as it was to kill His message. The same spirit still drives many today.

"Religious teachers have led souls to perdition while professing to guide them to the gates of Paradise. Not until the day of final accounts will it be known how great is the responsibility of men in holy office, and how terrible are the results of their unfaithfulness. Only in eternity can we rightly estimate the loss of a single soul. Fearful will be the doom of him to whom God shall say, Depart, thou wicked servant." {GC88 640.1}

This is an article that shows the simplicity of the truth as it is in Jesus.                                    --Daniel H. Peters
